April is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been practicing in the mental health field since 2007. She is currently the District Marriage and Family Therapist for Hemet Unified School District. April oversees the Tier 3 supports using the PBIS framework, is a trainer of Restorative Practices, facilitates the monthly Challenges of Youth Collaborative, provides Trauma-Informed Care training district wide, sits on the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB), participates in the Crisis Response Team, is a member of the PLUS Executive Committee, and serves as the District Social Worker for the Foster and Homeless Support Services Team. Her volunteer activities include; serving as Vice Chair of the Behavioral Health Commission for Riverside University Health Systems. She is also Chairs the Legislative Committee. April has traveled around Southern California speaking on such topics as Parenting, Mental Health Treatment and Diagnosis, and Building Self-Esteem. April has conducted her Trauma Informed Care Presentation at multiple conferences throughout the State including Equity through Excellence, Student Wellness Conference and the Riverside and San Bernardino County’s Foster and Homeless Youth Symposium in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Furthermore, in 2012 April developed a Faith-Based curriculum which combines therapeutic practices found in Family Systems Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Biblical principles to address identity related issues. This curriculum is currently offered in an online format and facilitated by April Jones.
