“And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Rev. 21:5

Do you ever wish you could have a do-over? You know, where you get a second chance at life, to undo the poor decisions you've made, to take back the words you regret saying, or to alter your life in a new direction away from the painful consequences that can accompany those poor decisions? Did you know this IS possible to do?

Consider the scripture above. God (the one seated on the throne) is giving us a chance for a do-over every morning of every new day. We can create the life we want to live simply by making a choice to change. Notice the counsel is to "write this down". Do you ever journal about how you want to change into the person you want to be? Successful people in life have a plan, they set goals, and they let themselves dream. Not only do they think about these things, they take action steps to move them toward their stated goals and dreams. Every success book on the market advises us to write down our goals, dreams, and desires- THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. A dream without a plan is only a wish. You can wish on a star all day long, but without action, nothing changes and your life will remain the same. This is true in therapy. Just because you show up week after week and "listen" nothing will truly change for you without application of the principles you are learning.

The bible further talks about us taking off the old life and putting on the new life, and how it is a choice, an attitude shift that must first start in our minds;

22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24 New International Version (NIV)

So, daily renew your mind by changing your attitude and pay attention to what you are putting into your mind. Are you thinking negative thoughts? Listening to negative people? Watching negative commentary on the news or social media? Then stop that and refocus on positives. Change your heart by embracing the fact that everyone, even you, are imperfect. Give grace to everyone (yes, even yourself), and offer love over hate. Change your soul and spiritual life. What is the difference between soul and spirit? Your Soul is who you see yourself as; your character, your ethics, your love for your neighbor. Spirt is who you are "in Christ;" your worship, your faith, and your love for God.

Now that you know you can change, do like Nike suggests: "JUST DO IT!"
