Please help us help those who are making a difference in the lives of our foster youth.
INSPIRE LIFE SKILLS TRAINING, Inc. (www.inspirelifeskills.org) is now partnering with ENCOURAGERS COUNSELING & TRAINING CENTERS to help even more of California's Foster Children. Traditionally, when a foster child "ages out" meaning he or she turns 18, they had only 2 options leaving the system: go into the military or go to college. They had no life skills training to help them become successful adults. Kristi Lopez, founder of Inspire Life Skills Training Inc., thought this failure of the system was unacceptable and did something about it. Now, as they celebrate their 14th year of helping, Inspire has 5 homes that provide transitional housing for these young adults (18-24) who want to attend college and learn to stand on their own two feet.
Inspire is celebrating their 14th Annual "Make the Difference" Dinner and Fundraiser September 14, 2019 at the Riverside Convention Center.
Please help us support an amazing cause and a wonderful organization. Learn more at: https://inspirelifeskills.org/get-involved/events/
How Encouragers is helping
Every child who finds themself in the foster care system has been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Frequently, they are moved from home to home and the abuse of abandonment, guilt, and shame continues within the system that was supposed to care for them. Those pains run deep and wide and the system is not designed to improve their mental health as much as provide for their housing and bare necessities. I have worked in the foster care system and have experienced first hand the frustration of wanting to do more and being limited by the restrictions of the system. It's for this reason that I am extremely excited to partner with Inspire to bring meaningful solutions to help old wounds heal.
This is why Encouragers was founded...to go where the need is not being met, and provide love and support for the emotional needs of the hurting.
