Life Delivered

I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday. A billboard along the freeway said, "Canabis delivered to your home." My mind began racing about everything that has become accessible to us via home delivery services. We can get our groceries delivered by the grocery stores. We can get our meals, our medications, and our clothes delivered. We can have whole home furniture delivery, and Gardners to come to care for the outside of our homes. We can hire nannies to raise our children, and housekeepers to clean our floors. We can work from home via the internet and never have to leave. We even can explore the great outdoors via Virtual Reality goggles we purchased on Amazon that were delivered to our door. We can get out of bed and lay on the couch all day before rolling back into bed at night. We never have to even speak to another person again. And now we can get "high on life" from the safety of our sofa. Oh joy!

I can't believe we have become a society of sluggards. Health care costs are skyrocketing because our bodies are not designed to sit all day and night. We are designed to move, to walk, to exercise, to interact with others. We were created to relate and to have relationships. We have a beautiful world to explore all around us. We have life to live, experiences to have, friendships to develop, and love to share. We're missing all the reasons why life is precious because we are accepting the life of mediocrity, and settling for less than our best.

Get off the couch...quick...before it's Thanksgiving and the turkey, mash potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie get piled on your plate. Take a walk in the sunshine and feel life as it hits you in the face. What's that? It's fresh air dummy! You won't find that in your smokey home where you vape yourself sick. Feel pain in your thigh? That's your muscles waking from their slumber. The pain in your lungs? Well, how long has it been since you stood long enough to take a deep breath? Don't give away your youth now, because you'll be old soon enough. Then you can sit on the couch and let others wipe your rear because you'll have no other choice.

Today you have a choice.

Get up.

Get out.

Get living!

Life is not delivered, it's waiting for you to go get it.

9 How long will you lie there,

you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— 11 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

Proverbs 6:9-11 (NIV)
