Daylight Reset

Tomorrow is Daylight Savings. Don't you wish twice a year you could do a reset? I mean, how cool to take something that is God given (sunlight) and make it rise and set on your own time and terms. What if everything in life could be determined by your needs and wants? How different would your life look? Your relationships? Your families and your work environment? Would you be happier knowing that everything you planned is coming true? This seems like it would be AMAZING, right? Except for one thing...if you create it, you're responsible for it. Imagine this:

You want your wife to serve your every need and she does. But for some reason that's still not good enough because she's doing it in a robotic fashion: No emotions, no apreation, and no love because she is ONLY focused on your needs and has no right to expect any of her needs be met by you, so she goes elsewhere to get her needs met.

You want your children to stop bothering you and they do. They have nothing to do with you and one day you realize this and wish it were different.

You want your boss to stop harassing you and they do. You miss out of promotions and pay raises as they focus their attention on others in the company who want to learn and grow.

The problem with wanting and then getting everything to your satisfaction is that even when you get it, you are unhappy. You have no one to blame except yourself because this was created by you. Being selfish is not the pathway to happiness, being a good man or woman is defined by what you GIVE not what you GET.

If you want a good relationship with your wife,

you MUST consider her needs as well.

If you want a good relationship with your children,

you MUST consider their needs as well.

If you want a good relationship with your employer,

you MUST consider their needs as well.

Reset your thinking and you'll get everything you want and more. When you give, you receive more than what you gave.

"A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart,

and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.

For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

Luke 6:45 (NIV)
