Give Selfishly

I was watching The Property Brothers and they were working with singer/songwriter Michael Buble' on the remodel of his grandfather's home (https://thescottbrothers.com/episodes/ciou-104-michael-buble/).

Michael wanted to keep his grandfather's wish which was to give the home to his grandfather's caretaker, Minette, who was there for him in the end. On the new fireplace mantle the brother's engraved one of Michael's grandfather's sayings, "Today's curse is tomorrow's blessing."

As we move away from the curse of the Corona-Virus/Covid-19, let us look for the blessings.

I was touched by Michael's tenderness when he reminisced with Minette about holding hands with his grandfather in the end and when he repeated another favorite saying of his grandfather's that to give unselfishly to another is the most selfish thing one can do because the giver benefits so much more from the act of giving.

I agree with Michael's grandfather and think that we should be more selfish with our giving. We should give our time, our energy, our thoughts, and our prayers. We should give tenderness, kindness, and compassion. We should give understanding, encouragement, and lead those who are lost. We should warmly embrace those we love, and we should hold hands, kiss cheeks, and pat backs as often as possible. Small gestures will lead to big returns as you give away so much more returns to you.

"For if you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use to give—large or small—will be used to measure what is given back to you.”
