Sculptor Susan Norris created this life-size bronze sculpture titled, “My Hero, My Friend,” to honor the working dog's devotion to their handlers and resides at Veterans Memorial Park in Trophy Club, Texas, inside the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Service dogs are amazing.
For 11 years my furry friend, Holly, was both friend and companion. Holly was a registered service dog and I would take her to work with me to bring calm and comfort to the veterans and children suffering from PTSD. When she passed 3 years ago I was heartbroken, and the love I lost still brings a tear to my eyes.
I am so pleased to honor those who have service dogs by inviting them into the therapy sessions with their owners. I believe it's important to recognize the value these loving animals contribute to the healing process of our clients. Any registered service dog is welcomed at Encouragers Counseling & Training Centers with open arms and maybe even a doggie treat.
Some of the best service dogs available do not come with a pedigree. They are the rescue dogs who have been abandoned in local animal shelters. Many people purchase specially bread dogs who don't shed because of cross breading with a Poodle, but if you don't have allergies, a shelter dog is the bomb. Please consider saving the life of a dog who may not live to see another day. They are so grateful to be rescued, and in return they rescue you. The life you save may be your own.
If you or someone you know is looking for a therapist who encourages you to bring your dog to therapy, contact Encouragers. We know life can be RUFF, but we're here to help unruffled the fir.

but wicked people are cruel to theirs."
