Play Day

Recent snows have received mixed reviews. In California, we welcome the rain and snow as our drought has created water shortages across the state. In the state of Virginia, a 1,000 car pile up and road closure took 40 hours to clear up. Ice storms caused trees to uproot falling on buildings and houses. As with any extreme weather change there will always be the possibility for problems.

But, with the snow there also comes possibility for play. One family had trees fall on their new barn collapsing one corner. The repairs will take many hours of labor and thousands of dollars to repair. The family assessed the damages, got out the chainsaw and went to to work. A few hours later they were able to create a temporary shelter for the affected animals and will have to wait for the insurance money to finish the repairs.

Seeing no reason to sit in despair, the family put on their snow apparel and found a hill to play in the snow. They realized that sometimes difficulty shows up at your door and you must face it, but they also know you don't have to remain stuck in the difficulty. In the years to come, they will remember the storm that took out the barn, but their kids will remember the fun play day.

In life, we can focus on the negative and the problems that we face, or we can deal with the challenges and turn our attention to the positives. The good news is the choice is always yours.
