All the Single Women

Have you ever gone to church and noticed all the women who sit alone? They arrive early, pick a seat (usually the same one week after week), they sing songs and raise hands in praise, shake hands with others around them and say, "Good morning," or "Welcome," and then sit back down to hear the pastor's commentary from the Bible. Sometimes they come in groups of 2 or 3 after they see someone familiar who is also dropping off their children in childcare.

After the service is over, they duck their heads and make a b-line for the door. Most of the time they arrive alone and leave alone. They are the unseen and uninvolved women who are hurting, broken, and isolated. They also are fearful of judgments from others, especially the judgments of other Christian women who seem to have it all together.

I have been a victim of the judgments of the good intended Christian women who listen briefly as I poured out my heart and problems, and in return I received, "Are you sure you've done everything you can? Well then, I'll pray for you, dear." I've listened to the pastor direct me in the path I should go as a married woman, and agreed with the leadership role my husband should be taking, but he wasn't there for the sermon, doesn't care that the marriage was breaking up, and didn't have any desire to try and save our family.

"She is worth far more than rubies." Proverbs 31:10

Everyday I see women in therapy, single moms, divorced, and widowed, and those who gave everything to a man who was willing to take it all and give little or nothing in return. The women talk about their men who use and abuse. Those who make babies and then abandon the family they helped create, only to go in search of something newer, brighter, or more fun. Many single women who never have married are desiring a marriage, but see their choices are to compromise their faith values and live according to the world, or live alone.

Well, if this sounds like you or someone you know...I've got great good news:
