I love his challenge to first ask yourself how many people love YOU. You may have any number of people YOU love, but the true test is if they love you or not. How many people will come to your funeral? Will they be there for YOU, "She made a positive impact on my life," or for themselves, "I don't want to feel guilty or not look bad for not going."
The only way to receive love is by giving it away. You can only give what you possess so you must first be able to love someone else. If your heart is filled with anger, resentment, judgment, or condemnation, you will be limited or even hindered from being able to love someone else. You may have a mask over your face that you think hides your negative thinking, but it leaks out in other ways that are hurtful. You may push others away and justify your actions as being righteous or setting boundaries, but if it hurts others around you, they may suffer the consequences for your choices in ways that will have lasting negative effects.
So, today, be loving, share compassion, encouragement, and grace to others who may not have been perfect, but who are trying to love you the best they can. Give your love away and you'll receive from the universe, God, and others an abundance of love beyond measure!
